Items for sale:
- Are grown, produced or gathered by the vendor, except for produce used in jams, jellies and syrups which can be obtained from a Western Montana grower
- Must be grown or made in Western Montana
- Prepared foods must contain locally-sourced ingredients
- PRODUCE: fresh vegetables and herbs, fresh or dried fruits, cut flowers, wreaths, and dried flower arrangements.
- NURSERY PLANTS: All plants from seed must be grown completely by the vendor. All plants that are available as cuttings, roots, tubers, bulbs, and plugs must be potted up and sold by the grower. You cannot buy plants to resell at the market.
- MEATS, CHEESES AND EGGS: Must be raised in Western Montana and handled and packaged in accordance with health department and state regulations. A retail food license is required to distribute meat products at farmer’s markets. It is recommended that you contact the Montana Department of Livestock, Meat and Poultry Bureau at (406) 444-5202 (Meat and Poultry Inspection Bureau) for information regarding the requirements for slaughter and processing.
- PREPARED AND COTTAGE FOODS: Must contain local ingredients and be produced in accordance with health department and state regulations. Prepared foods are foods and beverages that are typically produced for immediate consumption. Cottage foods include baked goods, dried fruits, jams & jellies, teas & spice mixes, sauces, popcorn, honey and kombucha.
- OTHER PRODUCTS: Products not specifically addressed above but that are allowed by Missoula County Health Department regulations may be sold at the Market subject to prior approval by the board of directors.
- Craft items may not be sold at the Missoula Farmers' Market. However, the Missoula People's Market is a venue for artists and crafts people and operates on Saturdays June-September.
- Rules and Regulations - These apply to both the Saturday and Tuesday markets and are for your review and questions prior to application submission.
